We are eco-leaders in the industry and set a positive example by providing our passengers with reef safe sunscreen at our Store check in locations and on our vessels so you can re-apply your sunscreen. (Please do not use petro-chemical sunscreens in the ocean as it does not break down and is harmful to the sustainabilty of the reef and the marine life).
About Pacific Whale Foundation: Pacific Whale Foundation is the only Hawaii cruise company that donates 100% of its profits to help protect whales, dolphins and the marine environment. Since 1980, we've raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support marine research, education and conservation programs on behalf of marine wildlife. Profits from our cruises have supported 26 years of marine research in Hawaii and throughout the Pacific. Data from this research data was instrumental in creating humpback whale sanctuaries in Australia and in Hawaii. Our data has also assisted Hawaii’s lawmakers in developing effective approach regulations for boats operating in waters where whales are present, led to the installation of mooring pins at Molokini Marine Preserve, and has helped to discourage fish feeding by snorkelers and divers in Hawaii. Our research data has also served as the backbone of our award-winning education outreach programs which serve thousands of children each year.
ABOUT US- Eco-Adventures is the subsidiary of, and is entirely owned by, our parent non-profit company Pacific Whale Foundation (PWF). Our full trade name is actually, Pacific Whale Foundation Eco-Adventures to signify the blend of eco-cruises that realize the actualization of our non-profit mission statement. "To promote appreciation, understanding and protection of whales, dolphins, coral reefs and our planet's oceans. We accomplish this by educating the public -- from a scientific perspective -- about the marine environment. We support and conduct responsible marine research and address marine conservation issues in Hawaii and the Pacific. Through educational ecotours, we model and promote sound ecotourism practices and responsible wildlife watching."
Although Eco-Adventures operates under the tax structure as a 'for profit' entity we donate 100% of the profits from our cruise operations, clothing and merchandise sales directly to the PWF group's non-profit work. We have succeeded to provide the backbone to our marine conservation work so that today we provide public education programs to more than 10,000 Maui school children, have six marine research programs in Hawaii, Ecador and Australia, and actively work to protect the well being of marine life in the ocean. Our strong field study research program has been able to provide the necessary data to lawmakers to help establish Whale Sanctuaries in the Pacific:
- Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary in Maui - Hervey Bay Marine Park in Australia - The National Monument in Northwestern Hawaiian Islands Our sound research programs is the cornerstone of our organization and has also assisted lawmakers to: -establish the installation of mooring pins at Molokini Marine Preserve so that anchors are not permitted (which harm the delicate reef) - help discourage fish feeding by snorkelers and divers in Hawaii. -establish effective approach regulations for boats operating in waters where whales are present Our research team also provides current data for: -the backbone to our award winning education programs which enriches the knowledge of over 10,000 Maui school children each year. -educating our certified Pacific Whale Marine Naturalist's who share this knowledge with everyone who embarks on our cruise vessels (introducing more than 200,000 people to the ocean and marine stewardship each year) - Weekly public lectures for our "Making Waves Lecture" programs -Annual events such as Whale Day and Earth Day, so we can continue to connect with the public and share our driving commitment to protect marine species in order to raise more awareness about this essential work.
Today this vital research continues to ensure further protection to the marine environment. Our passion to save oceans reefs and marine life and are driving commitment to protect marine species and we are grateful to have your support so we can continue to conduct this essential marine research.
